Jeremy and I had our big summer splurge two weekends ago by taking a trip to
Moab on a four day weekend. We went with some good friends and had a great time despite the daytime heat. We camped at
Sandflats Recreation Area and had a great spot at the base of a cliff which actually kept us in the shade later into the morning.
Our friends decided to be cool and climb the rocks behind us so I snapped this picture of them and the hot sun!
The highlights of our trip included 4-wheeling with Polaris
Rzrs that we rented and going swimming everyday to cool off!
If you can tell, I had fun taking pictures of the desert and colorful rocks.
It was kind of a bummer that our friends got a flat tire right at the beginning of our rental but it was fixed in less than an hour so we could get back to more fun.
Here are a few more pictures I took while we drove on the east side of the highway toward the two buttes called
Merrimac and Monitor.
These next pictures are when we stopped to see Uranium Arch.
As we neared the Buttes there were a few sandy stretches which were really fun for the boys to drive fast on! You can see our friend's dust in the second picture...Yahoo!!!
We actually got close to the red-rock cliffs and drove around the back side where it was really pretty!
This is a great picture of our friends! We were so happy that they invited us to go with them! It was so nice being with people who had been there before and were familiar with all of the cool spots!
They even let Jeremy use their goggles so he could look cool while driving! (and to keep the dust out of his eyes)
The next stop was
Tuscher Tunnel which was about 100 yards through a rock wall that let to the other side where we took a picture!
After our ride and getting hot and dusty it was so nice to go swimming and it was so refreshing that we decided to go every night! And isn't it pretty?
There was also a waterfall at this part of the river which was our favorite place to swim. Here is a picture of Jeremy being one with the waterfall!
After swimming we went for a sunset drive on a trail called Fins n' Things. After driving, we went back to camp and enjoyed delicious tin-foil dinners!
The next morning we went on a drive called Hell's Revenge. There were some crazy parts and great views!
After finishing that trail we still had some time left with the
Rzrs so we decided to do
Porcupine Trail which overlooked a big canyon.
After lunch and retuning the
Rzrs it was time for more swimming so we hiked higher up the river to this waterfall. We all jumped in at least once but it was shallower and colder so we stayed for a while but decided to finish swimming back down stream.
It was so fun to drive around on the
ATV's and see all of the beautiful landscape around
Moab. We also got to eat out at some great restaurants and even went to the movie theater to see Captain America. I think that we both really enjoyed the vacation time and just hanging out with
each other and good friends!

oh man, that is so awesome! BEAUtiful country, I am glad you guys did that! So much fun! I think one of the pics of Hell's revenge looks crazy, with Super steep hills, and Jeremy is a pro at being one with the waterfall, very cool pics!
